1. How far in advance should I book the makeup service?
It is recommended to book at least 6 to 12 months in advance, especially if the wedding is during peak wedding season (spring and summer).
2. Should I do a makeup trial before the wedding?
Yes, a makeup trial is highly recommended as it allows the bride and makeup artist to define the ideal look, adjust details and ensure that they feel comfortable on the big day. Ideally, it should be done 1 to 2 months before the wedding.
3. What should I bring to the makeup trial?
Bring makeup references you like (images for example), photos of your wedding dress and the accessories you will wear (veil, jewelry) and an understanding of the wedding color palette. This helps create a look that matches the theme and overall style of the wedding.
Also, wear a white or light-colored top as it helps to better perceive how the makeup will look with your wedding dress on the big day. It also creates a more realistic setting for the makeup test.
4. Will the makeup last all day?
With the right products and techniques bridal makeup should last all day including the ceremony, photo session and reception. Long-lasting and waterproof products, primers and setting sprays are essential to ensure the makeup stays intact.
5. What if I have sensitive skin or allergies to certain products?
It's important to inform me of any skin conditions or allergies from the first contact and you can even suggest using products you know are safe for your skin. The makeup trial will be done with special care and each product will be carefully selected to avoid adverse reactions.
6. Should bridal makeup be different from everyday makeup?
Yes, bridal makeup tends to be more long-lasting and detailed than everyday makeup. You also need to consider factors like lighting, photography and how long you'll be wearing the makeup. The look can be more glamorous or natural depending on your preference.
7. Will I need to touch up the makeup throughout the day?
While the makeup is designed to last it's normal to need small touch-ups throughout the day especially on the lips and T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). For this I offer a touch-up kit with lipstick, mattifying powder and other essential items to keep your look fresh.
8. Is the makeup waterproof?
Yes, of course! I use waterproof products, especially for the face and eyes to withstand tears, sweat and other intense emotions that may arise on your big day.
9. How many people can I do makeup for on the wedding day?
The number of people I can do makeup for depends on the time available but typically it's 4 to 5 people, including the bride. If there are many bridesmaids and family members it may be necessary to hire an assistant.
10. How long does bridal makeup take on the wedding day?
The bride's makeup usually takes between 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the complexity of the look. It's important to plan enough time for the makeup to be done calmly and for the bride to feel relaxed.
11. Do I need to take care of my skin before the wedding?
Yes, it’s important to follow a skincare routine in the months leading up to the wedding. During the makeup trial I usually offer personalized advice on what you can do to improve your skincare routine, ensuring that your skin is in the best condition for the big day. Well-cared-for skin makes makeup application easier and enhances the final result.
